Emergency Response

Horn International Relief and Development Organization (HIRDO) implemented a series of emergency and resilience building interventions in the Banadir region, with a strong focus on supporting vulnerable groups including older people, persons with disabilities, and women-headed households affected by drought. Under its Emergency Response and Disaster Risk Reduction (DDR) program, HIRDO enhanced disaster preparedness and resilience among 185 households (1,110 individuals) in Kahda district. This initiative targeted older people and persons with disabilities, as well as local authorities and organizational staff. The intervention aimed to raise awareness and strengthen local capacity to respond effectively to emergencies, ensuring that vulnerable communities are better equipped to withstand and recover from future shocks.
